Iranian cleric condemns Israeli regime over military application of AI
The Secretary General of Iran’s World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought called for global condemnation of Israel for using the artificial intelligence in its aggression against Gaza Strip.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari made the remarks in his address at 26th session of the International Islamic Fiq’h Academy underway in the Qatari capital Doha, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He said, “Providing a list of damages caused by artificial intelligence requires a structural framework that involves technical, ethical, social and economical aspects” proposing that these damages be categorized in five classes: fiqh, security-political, systematic-technical, economic and social-cultural.
The cleric said,” To mention the damages only is necessary but not enough. He said,” The existential and philosophical threats must be analyzed and documented with clear proofs.”
He referred to superintelligence and lack of long-run control over independent smart systems and also leaving the key decisions to be made by irresponsible systems among such threats.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari stressed more consideration on the current applications of artificial intelligence among them the smart weapons used in assassination of the former Hamas leaders, Ismail Haniyah and Yahya Sinwar.
He said,” The occupying regime has smart weapons, nuclear arms and chemical weapons and it is upon the fiqh associations to explain ban on using these weapons.”
The senior cleric warned against the occupying Israeli regime’s use of such weapons calling that a serious threat for global peace and human honor.
The cleric called for choosing analytical approaches in contrast with the alarm-centered approaches.

The five-day event debates contemporary jurisprudential, economic, and medical issues of concern to Muslim countries and communities.
Hundreds of Muslim scholars and elites from different Islamic denominations are attending the 26th volume of the major scientific event held in the Qatari capital under the patronage of Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.
