The statement called Syria, regardless of its ruling system, as the remnant of the defense line against the Israeli regime and said,” If this line of defense is broken, then the occupying regime will easily assault Syria and eliminate its military power and social structure, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
The statement said,” We believe that Syria is facing the foreign challenges caused by the Israeli and regional plots together with the issues of sectarian rifts at home” adding,” To stand against both threats, the Islamic Republic of Iran stood by Syria by deploying military advisors and performing cultural activities to promote proximity across the Levant.”
It added,” The World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought and the Organization of Culture and Islamic Communications have endeavored in various methods to alleviate sectarian provocations and cooperate with Syrian organizations to promote Islamic unity.”
The statement referred to Israel’s clear violation of the Syrian sovereignty and destruction of the military, economic and archeological sites and said,” The suspicious activities to provoke sectarian rifts is also revealed to all.”
“We demand the dear people in Syria to protect their solidarity and honor” concluded the statement and noted,” Any voice that supports such rifts is certainly a voice by the arrogant powers and Zionism.”
The statement comes as fresh sectarian clashes were erupted near the capital Damascus killing 13 people.
