The Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought has called artificial intelligence as one of the most challenging technologies man has developed highlighting the opportunities and adversaries of the modern technology brings to people’s life.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, in an interview with Croatia state television, noted the challenges and threats of developing artificial intelligence stressing that it is upon man to balance these two when developing artificial intelligence, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He expressed concern over the utilitarian view of some capitalists who might monopolize the artificial intelligence and widen the gap between the wealthy and also violate the privacy of the people.

He said,” We must care for the values that might be at risk by development of the artificial intelligence.”

The senior cleric added,” We must grab the opportunities that artificial intelligence brings for the developing countries” and added,” Also those opportunities through which the Islamic nation could promote its objectives, to bridge the gap between the poor and the rich, promote justice and protect the privacy of people.”

Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari conducted the interview with Croatia state television on the sideline of the international symposium on science, religion and artificial intelligence.
