Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, made the remarks in a statement issued after a program broadcasted on Iran’s state television desecrated the Sunni sanctities, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He said,” Despite religious and Qur’anic teachings, we are still witness to divisive moves that are undoubtedly plots, either hatched or supported by enemies of Islam.”
The senior cleric referred to the Islamic manners where the first Shia Imam, Imam Ali ibn Abi Taleb (AS), banned any desecration of the enemies among his soldiers.
He added,” This teaching has especially been followed by our scholars and the founder of the Islamic Revolution, late Imam Khomeini (RA) and the Leader of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, who have seriously warned against any remarks that might convey the least disrespect for the companions of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).”
Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari called protection of unity as a necessity that must be constantly maintained reiterating its necessity amid the critical condition across the globe that parts of the Muslim world is suffering the most brutal crimes.
“World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, stressing the views of the Leader of Islamic Revolution, demands serious efforts by the cultural and media executives to respect principles of the unified Islamic nation”, said the cleric.
The cleric noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran, throughout its life, has felt more responsibility towards the Sunni brothers and sisters in Palestine than any other country and has shown its support for the Palestinians during more than two years since the al-Aqsa Flood was launched.
He said,” Iran’s support for all resistance movements, regardless of their denomination, has constantly angered the enemies of Islam; therefore, it is natural that they make use of any opportunity to prevent this convergence.”
