Cleric hails expanding Iran-Saudi relations

The Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought has hailed the expansion of bilateral relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia stressing necessity of convergence among all Islamic countries.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari made the remarks in a message issued following the recent visit by Saudi Defense Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud to Tehran, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

According to the cleric the recent visit by Saudi top official has been widely welcomed across the world of Islam.

He said,” We believe in necessity of convergence in all diplomatic, economic and security domains and have explained our project entitled “Unified Islamic Ummah and Union of Islamic Countries”.

The senior cleric added,” We firmly believe that the Islamic nation cannot achieve its stance unless boosts its ties based on fraternal ties and cooperation.”

Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari warned that any close relation between the Islamic states, particularly two great countries Iran and Saudi Arabia is not approved by enemies expressing hope that moves will be made in line with establishment of the Union of Islamic Countries.


Heading a delegation of high-ranking officials, the Defense Minister of Saudi Arabia, Khalid bin Salman Al-Saud met with the Leader of Islamic Republic on Thursday, to deliver a letter from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman, to Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei.
