This arbitrary decision has worsened the humanitarian situation, leading to an immediate and drastic increase in the prices of essential goods and commodities, while many products have completely disappeared from the markets.
Last week, a group of more than thirty independent experts from the United Nations announced that Israel is resuming the “militarization of famine” in the Gaza Strip, “by taking a decision to violate” the ceasefire agreement and suspending the entry of humanitarian aid.
In a statement, the experts affiliated with the Human Rights Council, including the United Nations Special Rapporteur for the Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, stated that “Israel, as the occupying power, remains obligated to ensure the provision of adequate food, medical supplies and other relief services.”
The UN experts considered that “by deliberately cutting off vital supplies, including those related to sexual and reproductive health and assistive devices for persons with disabilities, Israel is once again using aid as a weapon.”
