Trump’s Gaza ethnic cleansing plan triggers protests in Iraq, Jordan

Protesters in the Jordanian capital of Amman, as well as other cities in the Arab country, protested against Trump's plans to forcibly relocate the residents of the Gaza Strip.

Many Jordanian politicians rejected the plan, with a new draft law being introduced to the country’s parliament that would outlaw the forced relocation of Palestinians to Jordan.

A Jordanian politician even called for the reintroduction of mandatory military service for a potential war with Israel over the issue.

Protests against the relocation plan also took place in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad. Similar protests had earlier taken place in Egypt.

During a meeting with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday, Trump announced his plan to seize the Palestinian region of Gaza and evict its natives from their homeland.

Trump’s plan also included the people of Gaza being forcibly relocated to Egypt and Jordan, despite the fact that both countries have officially rejected the scheme.

Israel’s minister for military affairs Israel Katz later called for the residents of Gaza to be relocated to Ireland and Spain.

The plan was met with condemnation from many world leaders, including the General Secretary of the United Nations.

Trump’s plan has also been met with criticism from many of his election supporters, who see Trump's plan as putting Israel first, contradicting his claimed policy of “America first”.
