At least nine Palestinians have been killed and several others wounded in Israeli strikes across Gaza on Sunday morning.

According to local sources, five civilians were killed and others were injured when an Israeli drone struck eastern Gaza City. Medical officials confirmed the casualties.

In a separate attack, Israeli artillery shelling killed four more people and wounded several others in the northern town of Beit Lahiya.

In the southern Gaza Strip, several civilians were wounded when Israeli forces targeted them with heavy fire as they attempted to return to their homes in Rafah and Khan Younis.

At the same time, Israeli military vehicles opened fire in the eastern neighborhoods of Shujaiya and Zeitoun in Gaza City.

This surge in attacks comes despite the ceasefire agreement that was scheduled to take effect at 8:30 AM Sunday but Israeli authorities delayed its implementation stating that the ceasefire will not commence until the list of female prisoners designated for release is submitted.

At least 46,913 Palestinians have been killed and 110,750 wounded since Israel launched its war on the besieged strip, Gaza Health Ministry says.

The majority of the dead are children, women, and elderly. The death toll is presumed to be far higher, with an estimated 10,000 bodies buried in the vast concrete debris throughout the Strip.
