OIC Committee of Six on Palestine considers launching global action to end the Israeli occupation

For his part, Palestine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Riyad Malki delivered a statement in which he highlighted the grave situation in the occupied Palestinian territories as a result of the escalation of Israeli crimes, attacks and violations against the Palestinian people, their land, and their sanctities.
The OIC Committee of Six on Palestine, which met on the sidelines of the 49th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC Member States in Nouakchott, welcomed the United Nation General Assembly’s adoption, at its 77th session, of a resolution requesting an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice on the nature of the Israeli colonial occupation of the land of the State of Palestine, including the Jerusalem, and the legal implications of this situation for all countries and for the United Nations.
The Committee also called on the High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention to exert all efforts to ensure that Israel, the occupying power, fully complies with the provisions of the Fourth Geneva Convention in the occupied Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem.
This is in addition to supporting Palestinian efforts in the international arena toward achieving justice, providing international protection for the Palestinian people and asserting their legitimate rights, holding the Israeli occupation accountable for its persistent crimes and violations, and launching a political process, under multilateral international auspices, conducive to ending the Israeli occupation and realizing the establishment of the independent State of Palestine on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.
The members of the Committee of Six on Palestine include Pakistan, Senegal, Guinea, the State of Palestine, Malaysia, and the OIC General Secretariat.
