Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought referred to division, desecration of sanctities and sparking clashes as enemies’ ways to tarnish coexistence in societies.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, in an interview televised on Golestan Province channel referred to history of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought and called unity as a religious and rational issue without which no objective is achieved, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He said,” There are shortcomings in the practical aspect of Islamic unity as in some Islamic countries, Syria being the latest instance of that, extremists stood against true Islam and brought defect to solidarity in the world of Islam.”
Top cleric noted that coexistence should first be boosted in the path towards unity and said,” If enemies can spark war in a society and begin bloodshed, coexistence is damaged and when they cannot outbreak war, then they carry out terror attacks in order to undermine coexistence; therefore, every other while pro-unity figures and activists are assassinated in a bid to prevent expansion of proximity and solidarity.”
According to Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari, if enemies cannot follow their plots in a country then they create hostility among people through mass media, social networks and television channels.
Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought said the second Regional Islamic Unity Conference aimed to promote the discourse of Islamic unity in the world of Islam in confrontation with intrigues to spark division among Muslims.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari visited the Iranian city of Gorgan to attend the second Regional Islamic Unity Conference.
