The deputy foreign minister for economic affairs Mehdi Safari has stated that the joint commission for economic cooperation between Iran and Iraq will be held soon.

The Economic Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran expressed hope that in the next few days, the Joint Commission on Cooperation between Iran and Iraq will be held.

By holding the commission, the trade between the two countries will be facilitated and a new chapter will be opened in Baghdad-Tehran cooperation.
The top diplomat also discussed the possibility of the establishment of joint industrial towns with the Iraqis; to export their productions to the neighboring countries.
The economic deputy of Iran's foreign minister stated that the Shalamcheh-Basra railway was also discussed with the Iraqis and the Prime Minister and President of Iraq emphasized that the financial resources have been allocated in the 2023 budget.
Safari also said that Iraq will soon pay its debt to Iranian companies.
Mehdi Safari, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister of Economy, met with President Abdul Latif Rashid and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani during his visit to Baghdad.
