Iran, Iraq ink 3 judicial, legal MoUs

The secretary of the High Council for Human Rights and deputy chief of the Iranian judiciary Kazem Gharibabadi has said that during his trip to Baghdad he has met with the head of Iraq's Supreme Judicial Council, the attorney general, the minister of justice, the national security advisor, and the parliamentarians.

The secretary of the High Council for Human Rights emphasized that it was decided to start the process of investigation into the case of Gen. Soleimani and his companions in the Iraqi judicial system.


The head of the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq has assured the Iranian side that there is a serious interest in following the case of the assassination of General Soleimani in the Iraqi judicial system and he burdens a heavy responsibility in this regard.

Gharibabadi also said that there was consultation with the Iraqi officials dealing with the terrorist groups because both countries have suffered a lot from the actions of the terrorist groups and MKO.

He also announced the agreement of the two countries to form a joint task force to prosecute terrorist groups in international courts.

The official has stated that this MoU will be finalized in the next two months at most, and then its implementation phase will begin.

Gharibabadi added that there was a MoU about the exchange of judicial and legal experiences, management of prisons and dealing with the problems of Iranian and Iraqi prisoners, and in almost two months, about 30 Iranian prisoners in Iraq will be transferred to Iran.

During his 3 days visit to Baghdad, the deputy head of the Iranian judiciary consulted with Iraqi judicial and political officials.
