Cleric calls for mobilization of media networks

Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari attending the First Minaret International Conference in the capital Tehran on Monday called for creating and promoting a supportive network of media in the world of Islam, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He referred to the decreasing power of the states in comparison with the improving power of the individual citizens across the globe.

He said,” This is an era for the individuals have empowered and are capable of imposing their demands to the rulers due to the social media.”

The cleric mentioned “network progression” in assimilation with the geometric and arithmetic progression saying,” Social media have multiplied the power of individuals in a much greater scale without manipulation of the states.”

Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari referred to the television as the sole medium and said,” This is while social media and convergence of unified citizens turned into a great power independent from the governments.”

He referred to the protests in Iran and said expansion of the incidents was due to the massive power of the media.

Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thoughts called for mobilization of the media in the world of Islam.

Top Iranian cleric made the comments in the First Minaret International Conference held in the capital Tehran on Monday.

More than 400 elites, media activists and religious figures attended the meeting on media and unity of Islamic ummah.

Participants in this meeting exchanged views on three axes: unity of the Islamic Ummah, media truth and media literacy, the capacity of international media.
