Supreme Leader stresses immediate punishment of Sunni cleric’s assassins

Supreme Leader of Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has issued a message on Wednesday to condemn kidnap and assassination of Iranian Sunni cleric Molavi Abdulvahed Rigi in Sistan and Baluchistan province.

The Leader, in his message, called the villains behind the crime as “despicable mercenaries” at the service of enemies who have targeted happiness of the Baluch people and unity of Iranian ethnicities, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Ayatollah Khamenei in his message expressed regret over the kidnap and assassination of senior Sunni cleric urging the responsible executives for investigation and immediate punishment of those behind the crime.
 
Supreme Leader also expressed sympathy with the bereaved family of Molavi Abdulvahed Rigi and the people of Sistan and Baluchistan province.
 
Friday prayers leader of Imam Hussein Mosque in Khash, Molavi Abdulvahed Rigi, was kidnaped and killed by unknown men from a mosque on Thursday. The dead body of the senior Sunni cleric was found on the roadside in Khash.
 
Iran’s Intelligence Ministry issued a statement on Tuesday announcing that it had arrested three major elements behind murder of the Sunni cleric in cooperation with the police in southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan.
