Iranian, Italian FMs discuss bilateral ties, int'l developments

Foreign Minister and his Italian counterpart on Thursday evening discussed the latest issues in bilateral ties, and international and regional developments.

 He thanked Italy for its stance and its condemnation of the ISIS terrorist attack on the holy Shrine of Shah Cheragh in the Iranian city of Shiraz and called on the international community to fulfill its responsibility in fighting the vicious phenomenon.
Amir-Abdollahian also briefed Tajani on the latest developments regarding the talks for the removal of sanctions and the cooperation between the International Atomic Energy Agency and Iran.
The top Iranian diplomat also talked about the developments in Ukraine and underlined that the principled and unchangeable policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been the necessity of a political solution to the conflict and ending the war and accordingly Tehran will continue its efforts to help advance the political process in this regard.
Tajani, for his part, said the two countries of Iran and Italy are heirs to ancient civilizations and can enjoy wide-ranging and growing ties.
He also underlined the significance of the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in improving peace and stability in the West Asia region.
Tajani also talked about the negotiations for the removal of sanctions, saying Italy will put every effort into securing an agreement that safeguards the interests of all sides.
