Iran warns EU not continue repeated, failed path of previous years

26 Oct 2022 - 17:00

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has stated that a comprehensive cooperation document between Tehran, Minsk is signed

He said: "These institutions and sanctioned persons are defined as examples of terrorism".

The foreign minister said: I warn the European Union not to continue the repeated and failed path of the previous years. The leaders of a few countries in the European Union have extreme and hasty views on the regional and international developments, and a large part of the European Union members act in the direction of rationality".

Amir-Abdollahian added: "We strongly reject the baseless accusations of some countries regarding Russia's use of Iranian drones in the war against Ukraine, and we invite the Ukrainian authorities to present any evidence related to this claim in a bilateral meeting at the level of Iranian and Ukrainian technical experts. Our position regarding Ukraine is not to arm the warring parties and we are against the war in Ukraine".

He said: "While some American officials are in a hurry to send confidential diplomatic messages to reach an agreement, and at the table of indirect negotiations or exchanging indirect messages, they repeatedly express their interest, but at the same time they support panic and chaos in Iran. Their goal is to force us to back down at the negotiating table. Undoubtedly, we will not fall short of our red lines in providing the national interests of the people. US' messages reach us to reach an agreement. In recent days, we received a message from the US in this regard. Diplomacy is going well. But some American officials make hypocritical statements in the media in a way that contradicts their diplomatic messages.
He said: "In the near future, the President of Belarus, Lukashenko, will come to Iran, and the long-term comprehensive agreement between the two countries will be signed in Tehran, along with other documents."

The Minister of Foreign Affairs further mentioned holding a bilateral meeting with Vladimir Maki, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, and said: "We are on the eve of the 30th anniversary of Iran-Belarus diplomatic relations, and an official visit to Belarus was made at my invitation and important talks were held."

Referring to the joint cooperation meeting between the two countries, which was held last June, Amir- Abdollahian added: "Today, the latest status of the talks between the two sides was reviewed and we are witnessing a good growth in the trade exchanges between the two countries, and we hope to see an increase in the volume of trade between two countries.

Recalling that the two countries are quickly on the way to implementing private and government agreements, he said: "We have taken into consideration the latest progress of transportation and transit and industrial cooperation and new technologies, which are on the agenda of the relations between the two countries".

The Minister of Foreign Affairs listed the agreement and approval of consular cooperation to ease the commute of nationals in the field of economic activity and transit drivers and tourists and effective cooperation to remove oppressive sanctions as other axes of cooperation between Tehran and Minsk.

Stating that Belarus and Iran are moving towards a strategic partnership between the two countries, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus said: "An economic terrorism is happening against our countries and we must show appropriate measures in response to the actions of Western countries."

Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Maki, visiting Tehran, met with Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In a joint press conference with the Foreign Minister of Iran, the foreign minister of Belarus said: "Different documents are under review to raise the level of relations between the two countries."
"The 15th meeting of the Joint Cooperation Commission was held in Minsk, and we are implementing agreements," he added.

"The level of commercial and economic cooperation between the two countries is not at a good level compared to political relations, and we must make efforts to implement the agreements and bring them to a higher level," the top Belarusian diplomat said.
He said: Belarus is against unilateral economic and trade sanctions. We want the implementation of international law, and we do not like damaging the economy of other countries. Our countries have been targeted by economic terrorism. We must respond appropriately to the actions of Western countries.
