Activists march in Washington in protest of Israeli violence in West Bank

Scores of pro-Palestine activists marched in downtown Washington DC on Friday night demanding an end of the Israeli occupation and in protest of the recent Israeli escalation of violence in the occupied West Bank.

“It’s very difficult to see your people not be able to freely move like we can out here today. We take it so for granted. They are living under an Apartheid regime that is committing war crimes every day,” said one of the protesters.
Another protester said, “Palestinians in Jerusalem, Nablus… are calling for a General Strike to protest the sieges and escalation… of tear gas, night raids, and skunk water that is causing a massive civil disobedience in Palestine right now”.
“They knew #ShireenAbuAkleh was a journalist and still fired on her. And U.S. refuses to hold the Israeli state to justice for what they’ve done. The soldier is walking free and nobody cares,” a third protester said.
The Friday march was in response to the ongoing deadly Israeli military raids in the occupied West Bank, which since the beginning of the year resulted in the killing of more than 120 Palestinians, the majority of them civilians.
This demonstration also comes a day after the American Civil Liberties Union asked the US Supreme Court to review a law prohibiting the boycott of Israeli apartheid and occupation.
