Iran says to take countermeasures against Europe

15 Oct 2022 - 20:21

Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian discussed bilateral and international issues in a phone call with his Portuguese counterpart Joao Gomes Cravinho late on Friday.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran called for ending the IAEA accusations against Iran.

Talking about the war in Ukraine, Iran's top diplomat also denied sending any weapons to the warring parties.
"We believe that arming each of the parties will prolong the war, so we have not seen and don't see war a right way either in Ukraine or Afghanistan, Syria, or Yemen," he added.

Amir-Abdollahian noted: "Iran faces terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda, Jaish al-Adl, and ISIS in the west and east of the country. Also, in recent weeks, we have seen the arrival of weapons from the western and eastern borders. At the same time, some countries have called riots and terrorist activities protests and provoked the rioters and terrorists in their interventionist statements. They will even put a resolution or sanctions on their agenda in the upcoming Council of Ministers of the European Union meeting. In this case, the Islamic Republic will take countermeasures."

While emphasizing the long history of good relations between the two countries, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal also welcomed the positions and actions of the Islamic Republic in the continuation of the nuclear negotiations and especially the broader interaction with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Joao Gomes Cravinho also encouraged continuing Iran's cooperation to resolve the Ukraine crisis. In the end, the top diplomat expressed his sympathy to the families of all the victims of the recent incidents in Iran.
