Iranian Sunni cleric  referred to some dark incidents in the history of Islam calling on Muslims to turn challenges into opportunities to boost Islamic unity.

Mowlavi Mohammad Es’haq Madani, attending the first regional Islamic unity conference held in Sanandaj, Iranian Kurdistan province on Wednesday and called solidarity as a responsibility upon all Muslims, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He said,” The nature of Islam is the same and all those who believe in prophethood, Day of Judgment, holy Qur’an and monotheism are members of the same ummah (nation).”
 
Top cleric added,” Same way we count daily prayers and other Islamic responsibilities, we should clasp upon “the holy rope of Allah” and leave all pretexts to evade solidarity among us.”
 
Mowlavi Mohammad Es’haq Madani stressed that unity and convergence should eventually lead to fraternity among Muslim.
 
He referred to bitter incidents in the history of Islam and said,” Through unity we should turn these challenges into opportunities.”
 
Top cleric expressed regret that some disagreements, since early days of Islam, have turned into a reason for battle.
 
Mowlavi Mohammad Es’haq Madani made the comments in the first regional Islamic unity conference held in Kurdistan.
 
Hundreds of Iranian and Iraqi elites, professors and religious figures attended the meeting held by World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought in line with the annual Islamic Unity Conference.
