Iranian FM warns of efforts targeting Islamic unity since long

Top official in his remarks at the first regional Islamic unity conference held in Iran’s western city of Sanandaj via videoconference hailed the regional conference of religious figures said the meeting aimed to speed up the process of achieving Islamic unity amid the present critical situation, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Top official commemorated the Iranian and Iraqi martyrs from the Kurdistan region particularly Iran’s IRGC commander of Quds Force Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and Iraqi deputy of Hashd al-Shaabi, Abu Mahdi Muhandis who sacrificed their lives to safeguard Islam and security in the region.

Iranian Foreign Minister added,” Shia and Sunni unity has always been a recommendation by the late leader of Islamic Revolution and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei as enemies have targeted our solidarity since long.”

Amir-Abdollahian warned of multilayer hostile plots by enemies and said,” Despite years of efforts by enemies to hatch plots in the Middle East, particularly in Iraq, have all failed.”

He also condemned satellite and cyber channels that struggle to spark division among Muslims, tarnish the image of Islam and undermine Islamic unity saying,” Such efforts have ended in nothing because the solidarity among Shia and Sunni Muslims is much strong.”
