Christians in Nigeria to join Muslims for Eid al-Adha

A group of Christians in Kaduna, Nigeria will join their Muslim neighbors and serve the participants in upcoming Eid al-Adha.

Daniel Biterous, leader of the volunteer Christian team joining Muslims said the interfaith move is made in line with religious cooperation and promoting reconciliation, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
The volunteers helped with cleaning, disinfecting the interior of the mosque and also disposing the trash.
 
“We are here to support our Muslim brothers in preparing the mosque for Eid al-Adha ceremony,” said the Christian leader.
 
The interfaith cooperation has reportedly lasted for two days providing the opportunity for Muslims and Christians to begin friendship and discuss ways for expansion of religious ties and better understanding of followers of both religions.
 
Kachia Muslims also hailed the Christians for their cooperation in this ceremony.
 
This is the first of such interfaith cooperation in southern Kaduna which has been scene for much ethnoreligious crises so far.
 
Muslims across the globe mark Eid al-Adha also known as the Feast of Sacrifice marking the great sacrifice made by Prophet Abraham (PBUH). The occasion is marked by prayers held at different major mosques and Islamic centers.
