Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres discussed some regional and international developments over phone.
Expressing his support for the continuation of the ceasefire in Yemen, the Iranian Foreign Minister stressed the need for a complete lifting of the siege and considered it a suitable platform for starting further talks between Yemeni groups.
Referring to his conversation with his Syrian counterpart yesterday, Amir-Abdollahian called the continuation of the Zionist regime's aggression on Syrian territory and the military attack on the civilian airport in Damascus a gross violation of the principles of the UN Charter and added that the situation in the region has proved that the Zionist regime's war mongering against the security and stability of the region would return to itself.
Antonio Guterres, for his part, stressed the importance of continuing the Vienna talks and called diplomacy the best way to resolve disputes between the Islamic Republic of Iran and some other parties to the JCPOA.
The UN secretary-general called the International Atomic Energy Agency's recent resolution on Iran merely a recommendation and underlined the importance of continuing negotiations.
He also praised the efforts and constructive positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran in supporting the continuation of the ceasefire, regarding the crisis in Yemen.
Guterres called the Astana summit on Syria a good platform to address the crisis and resolve possible concerns between Syria and Turkey.
