Instagram has blocked the pages of Imam Reza holy shrine and the Custodian of holy shrine without prior notice in the wake of popular campaigns to promote religious and revolutionary teachings.

Instagram had previously blocked the official page of the holy shrine of Imam Reza following the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani in 2020 and the coverage of his massive funeral procession in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad.
This is while the page endeavors to promote religious teachings and broadcast official news programs, social services, and popular campaigns by benefactors in the holy shrine.
The social media platform, which claims to support freedom of expression, seems to be fundamentally at odds with issues such as popular campaigns, promotion of religious teachings, dissemination of Islamic Revolution culture and also promotion of the Supreme Leader’s words.
This is not the first instance of such hostile behavior as the enemies of Iran had already blacklisted the custodian of the holy shrine, Hujjat-ul-Islam Ahmad Marvi, in 2021.
Nevertheless, due to the massive presence of Imam Reza fervent pilgrims and the audience of the holy shrine on Instagram, attempts will be made to remove the ban since the religious organization is tasked with the duty of managing cyberspace to stand against hostile machinations as outlined by the Leader in his New Year’s message last year.
Therefore, until the removal of the ban, the official page of the holy shrine and that of the custodian will be accessible at aqr.ir and ahmadmarvi_ir respectively.
