Iran's parliament approves amendment to Iran-Croatia investment agreement

Iran's parliament approved the amendment to the Protocol on the Agreement on Encouragement and Mutual Support for Investment between the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Government of Croatia.


The agreement shall let the necessary measures for both parties to maintain public order, to fulfill its obligations to maintain and restore international peace or security, or to protect its fundamental security interests, as well as measures to protect the life or health of humans, animals, or plants; it will not prevent living or non-living natural resources and national treasures of artistic, historical, or ancient value.
Article 11 for other obligations says this agreement without prejudice shall apply to the obligations of the Contracting Parties arising out of their membership or participation in any Customs Union, Economic Union, Regional Economic Integration Agreement, or a present or future international agreement such as that of the European Union. Consequently, the provisions of the agreement may not be construed, in whole or in part, in such a way as to invalidate, amend or otherwise affect the obligations of the Parties arising out of such membership or partnership.
The protocol was set up in Zagreb on April 2, 2019, in two versions in Persian, Croatian, and English, all of which have the same validity. In case of divergence of interpretation, the English text shall prevail.
