Senior mufti of Russia referred to the emphasis put on unity of hearts the greatest basis in Islam calling on world Muslims to stand united despite diversity of opinions and stances on various issues.

Sheikh Rawil Gaynetdin from Russia, grand Mufti of Russia, in his address to the webinar at the 35th International Islamic Unity Conference on Saturday October 23 hailed the annual meeting for providing Muslim scholars to convene and discuss important issues concerning Muslim communities, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He also lauded the annual convention of Muslim scholars held by the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought over making decisions that will lead to the solidarity of brotherly relations in the world of Islam.
He said," In Islam, the unity of hearts is mentioned while the sources of thought can be different. This unity of heart is in fact the greatest basis of Islam."
Russian Sunni leader lauded the role played by late Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, the former advisor of the Supreme Leader in Muslim world affairs, in uniting Muslims who have different spiritual views.
"His high knowledge, wise thoughts and superior ideas have always adorned our religious visit" said Sheikh Rawil Gaynetdin added that the late Shia cleric not only aroused the interest of the scholars of the Islamic world, but also attracted the attention of scholars of other religions.
According to the Russian scholar, late Ayatollah Taskhiri was also specially revered in the Russian Orthodox Church, and the Russian Muslims twice granted him the medal of honor due to his contribution to the development of Islam.
Sheikh Rawil Gaynetdin addressed the 35th International Islamic Unity Conference on the fifth day of the annual meeting which was held mainly in virtual meetings due to the circumstances caused by COVID-19.
