Huj. Shahriari calls for establishment of Union of Islamic Countries

According to the Taghrib News Agency (TNA), a meeting aimed at exchange of views was held with participation of Sunni personalities from Sistan and Baluchestan, Golestan, Gilan, Bushehr, Fars and Kermanshah provinces and Hujjat-ul-Islam, Dr. Hamid Shahriari.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari, in his remarks in this gathering emphasized on the establishment of the World Union of Islamic Countries and said that formation of such union was practical, noting that the European Union was formed at a time when at least 70 to 85 million people had been killed in World War II.

The Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought stated that although Europeans committed numerous bloodsheds and massacred each other in World War II but despite all that, they put aside their differences and in a rational manner and formed the European Union.

He continued by saying that when we say that Islamic countries should have a union, we do not mean that they do not respect each other's Constitutions or borders, but that these countries can pursue a common currency, common global stands and easier movement of Muslims within the member states of the Islamic Union.

Dr. Shahriari continued his speech by describing the message of the Islamic Revolution as international and universal and reminded that," If we want to convey the international message of the Islamic Revolution, we must also behave internationally" adding that one of the main preconditions of universal behavior, is safeguarding the rights of all people.

He described justice as the most important social message of Islam and said the greatest wrongdoing according to Islam, is oppression. Oppression is, in fact, trampling the rights of others.
