Hussein Amir Abdullahian, Iranian Foreign Minister in his first foreign trip after taking office attended regional summit held in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Saturday stressing the Islamic Republic’s support for security, independence and sovereignty of Iraq, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He said,” Islamic Republic of Iran voices its support for stability, security, independence and sovereignty of Iraq” stressing Tehran’s preparation for expansion of mutual and regional cooperation.
 
Iranian Foreign Minister added,” Iran has constantly reiterated support for peace gained through regional negotiations.”
 
He expressed hope that the regional countries reach a consensus that security is achieved only thought mutual trust between countries in the region.
 
Jordan, Qatar, Egypt, Kuwait, Turkey and Saudi Arabia are among other countries attending Baghdad summit.
 
Baghdad announced that the summit is held with the aim of alleviating tensions in the region and expansion of economic relations among countries.
