"Ashura, opportunity to boost Islamic unity", cleric

Director of Iran's Ashura Foundation has hailed the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) as an opportunity to materialize solidarity among Muslims.

Ayatollah Mohammad Hassan Akhtari, senior Iranian cleric in his remarks at the webinar on Qur'anic views on mourning ceremonies noted the great pain brought to hears of the world Muslims by the Battle of Karbala and its capabilities to bring world Muslims closer together , reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He referred to the different mourning ceremonies held by world Muslims to mark the great sacrifice made by Imam Hussein (AS), the third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
 
He said," This is an opportunity for materialization of unity among Muslims and liberal nations across the globe to highlight the oppression against Imam Hussein and mark his uprising against the tyrants of the time."
 
The cleric added," It is necessary to get inspirations from Islamic teachings and Ashura and settle the chaotic situation in the world of Islam."
 
Director of Ashura Foundation referred to the oppression of the Palestinian, Yemeni, Syrian and Lebanese nation and said," The sole way for salvation is to defend the rightful confrontation of these nations with an inspiration from Imam Hussein (AS) school of thought."
