Ex-UN rights chief to lead probe into "organized" Israeli crimes against Palestinians

27 Jul 2021 - 14:02

Former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navy Pillay, will lead the probe into organized crimes and breach of the human rights by Israeli regime.

Navanethem Pillay has been announced as the chair for probes to be conducted by the UN Commissioner for Human Rights on the organized crimes committed by Israeli regime in the occupied Palestinian lands, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

According to the present UN Commissioner for Human Rights, Pillay will lead a three-person delegate of investigators appointed to conduct precise probe into violation of human rights and decades of conflict between Israeli regime and Palestinians.

The Commission of Inquiry is usually launched for issues of highest significance; hence, the topic should be high on the agenda of the UN Commissioner for Human Rights.

The Independent International Commission of Inquiry will investigate all violations of human rights laws in the occupied Palestinian lands and Jerusalem al-Quds.

It will also probe into the origins of frequent tension, instability and continuation of clashes as well as reasons behind crackdown and systematic racism based on nationality, ethnicity, racial or religious backgrounds.

Although the human rights commission has previously issued orders for similar probes for 8 times, this is the first time the order to probe into origins of the conflicts and also "organized" violations.
