South African President hails Muslims over honorable history in country

South African President stressed the rich and honorable history of Islam in the country in his speech to the Muslim leaders in Athlon, Cape Town suburbs and hailed the role of Muslims in combat against apartheid.

Cyril Ramaphosa lauded the Muslim community for the major role it played against the apartheid and highlighted the high price it paid to stand against apartheid, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
In his address to Muslim leaders in Athlon he referred to Islam as an inseparable part of South Africa history and called the different religious groups as parts which contributing to the rich cultural combination which made South Africa such a great country.
 
Ramaphosa said,” Muslim community in South Africa is known for the contribution it made to transcend the society, helping with the poor and ending poverty, inequality and underdevelopment.
 
He referred to the contributions made by Muslim community during the COVID-19 pandemic when fear and uncertainty had spread across the country.
 
According to Iran’s cultural attaché in South Africa Muslims make 3 percent of the population in the country, the majority of them living in the Western Cape.
