Canada Muslims demand National Day of Action against Islamophobia

Muslim community in Canada has launched a campaign to call the government to create a National Day against Islamophobia.
Canada Muslims demand National Day of Action against Islamophobia
Launched by 17-year-old high school student in London, Ontario, following the attack against Muslim family, more than 15,000 people have signed a petition which demands the federal government to register a National Day against Islamophobia, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

The demand has come following the truck attack by a young man targeting a Pakistani Muslim family in London Ontario which left four members dead and the youngest son injured.

The demand is made for the community to "have a day to remember and mourn together."

Police has defined the attack against Muslim family as a hate crime confirming that the family was targeted because of their faith.

The public concern and regret over the attack was refueled on June 25 as a masked man in St. Albert attacked two Muslim sisters shouting racial slurs and brandishing a knife, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police reported.
