Molavi Es'haq Madani:

Prominent Shia, Sunni scholars should reach unity

19 Dec 2020 - 16:48

Iranian Sunni cleric noted that the best way to materialize Islamic unity is that prominent Shia and Sunni scholars reach agreement first.

Molavi Es'haq Madani, deputy of supreme council at World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought stressed that unity should first be reached by renowned Shia and Sunni scholars so that solidarity between the two denominations is achieved, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He made the comments in a virtual meeting on "Strategies to Boost Relations between Shia, Sunni Seminaries" stressing that," If Sharia, law or Fiq'h are the obstacles for solidarity between the two Islamic denominations, then clerics should reach consensus to settle the issue."

Iranian Sunni scholar warned of outside threats against Muslim world and said," If Muslims do not trouble the non-believers it does not necessarily mean that they do not trouble Muslims" and added," They find Islam as a dormant beast which should not be troubled; hence, they do not leave us alone rather divide our Islamic nation by derogatory cartoons, desecrating Islamic sanctities or sparking sectarian wars."

Molavi Es'haq Madani said," It is time for unity as different Christian denominations and Jews have reached agreement between them now why should not we come to agreement when we do not have major disagreements"

Top cleric warned of global anti-Iran campaign to boycott and threat the country and counted for a consensus among the high ranking religious leaders.

Virtual meeting of Shia and Sunni scholars on "Strategies to Boost Relations between Shia, Sunni Seminaries" was held on Friday attended by prominent Sunni and Shia scholars.
