Al-Azhar denounces Qur'an burning in Sweden as terrorist crime

Top Egyptian mufti, Ahmad al-Tayyip has censured Qur'an burning in Sweden in a Facebook post calling that an act of terror.


Al-Azhar top mufti, Sheikh Ahmad al-Tayyip, has posted a message to condemn the recent Qur'an burning in Sweden as brutal and act of crime, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He said," This was a racist and hateful act abhorred by all human civilizations" and added," This move provides the fuel for terrorism which both the west and east are suffering from."
 
Ahmad al-Tayyip stressed," These crimes will fuel the hatred, tear down the security in societies and threatens the hopes for dialogue among civilizations."
 
Grand mufti of Al-Azhar said," Burning holy Qur'an is in fact insulting the feelings of nearly one billion Muslims and history will recall that instance as a shameful measure."
 
Three members of a far-right group from Denmark have burnt a copy of holy Qur'an near the site of Friday prayer in Malmo, a move which has irked Muslims and sparked protests in the Swedish southern city of Malmo.
