“The Islamic Republic of Iran attaches great importance to the development of its economic and trade ties with Islamic countries,” Jahangiri said at the opening ceremony of the 14th international trade exhibition of OIC in Tehran.

Jahangiri expressed hope that developing ties between OIC member countries could play an important role in the economies of Islamic countries.

The 14th International Exhibition of Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) opened in Tehran on Monday and it will continue for five days.

“This exhibition is held with the participation companies from more than 30 Islamic countries and foreign visitors will also attend the fair,” Deputy Head of the Iranian Trade Promotion Organization Reza Tofiqi said.

The OIC, which was established in 1969, is the second-largest inter-governmental organization after the United Nations and has 57 member states spread over four continents. The body also has a permanent delegation to the UN.

The Islamic association says it is “the collective voice of the Muslim world” and works to “safeguard and protect the interests of the Muslim world in the spirit of promoting international peace and harmony.”
