Dr. Noufou Ouedraogo, a university professor from Burkina Faso, made the remarks in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) on the sidelines of the 40th International Islamic Unity Conference held in the capital Tehran.
Speaking about the unifying thought of the martyred Leader of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and its impact on Muslim solidarity, Nofu said the call for Islamic unity had a positive effect on the Muslim Ummah.
He described the martyred Leader as a “great personality,” stressing that his call for unity was not aimed at serving personal interests but at bringing Muslims together and creating a force capable of confronting various forms of violence and hostility.
“I call on all Muslims to unite and work hand in hand for progress and to achieve greater strength for Muslims,” the Burkina Faso scholar said.
Nofu also called on Muslim countries to learn from the position adopted by the Islamic Republic of Iran in confronting its enemies, describing Iran as a powerful Islamic country that works for Islam and Muslims.
He said recent developments had demonstrated Iran’s determination to stand against its adversaries, arguing that Iran’s support for Muslim countries and peoples should be viewed as support for the wider Muslim Ummah.
“The defense of these countries or Muslims is not the defense of Iran; it is the defense of Muslims,” he said.
The scholar further called for greater cooperation with Iran, saying that benefiting from what he described as Iran’s “great power” requires Muslim countries to cooperate directly and stand alongside it.
“What Iran has done in recent days can be described as an action that all Muslim countries should have taken; however, Iran stood alone against the enemy,” Nofu said.
He added that countries should seize the opportunity to stand alongside Iran in confronting their common enemies.
Nofu also stressed that the legacy of the martyred Leader’s emphasis on Islamic unity should serve as a basis for greater solidarity and cooperation among Muslim nations in addressing challenges facing the Islamic world.
