Zameer Abbas Jafari, an Indian thinker and media activist, and the head of Sabeel Media, an institution producing media and cultural products, in an interview with the Taghrib News Agency (TNA), regarding the holding of the 40th Islamic Unity Conference, stated: "I had come to this conference years ago as well, and praise be to God, I see that the same pure intention for creating unity still exists. One feature that existed in previous conferences was the presence of the Supreme Leader, whom we would see and draw spirit from. God willing, we will be successful in moving on the path he was on and moving along."
Regarding the role of the martyred leader in explaining the foundations of unity for Muslims, he stated: "In recent years, the martyred leader repeatedly used the term 'jihad of clarification,' while for the past 35 years he himself was engaged in this work. He expressed the 'foundations of unity' and removed the ambiguities that existed. There was an ambiguity for Muslims that unity is a tactic because we have a common enemy. But he said that this is not the case; rather, unity is a Quranic duty, and even if we did not have a common enemy, we would still have the duty to be united with one another, because this is the command of the Quran."
This Indian thinker, referring to the magnanimity of the martyred leader of the revolution towards Sunnis, said: "Any country that has 90 percent Shia deprives all Sunnis of their rights. I went to Hormozgan and witnessed that although the majority of people in that region are Sunni, all facilities were provided there and no shortage was felt. This is because the martyred leader possessed a great heart, and for him, there was no difference between Shia and Sunni."
He continued: "Mr. Khamenei was able to bring a country that was devoid of science and technology to this point. In India, no one thought that Iran could stand on its own feet in a war. In the interviews we conducted in India, we were asked how long Iran could resist, and we would respond by saying: you tell us, how long can America resist? Because Iran stood when it had no facilities (in the eight-year war)."
Zameer Abbas Jafari, stating that after the war, people's perspective on Iran has changed, said: "The people of the world now understand that the youth in Iran, despite having a revolutionary spirit, are people of knowledge and are advanced. I do not want to say that there are no problems in Iran, but the efforts of the martyred leader have brought Iran to this stage."
Regarding the obstacles to achieving a united Ummah despite the large number of Muslims and Islamic organizations claiming unity, he noted: "The people of the world today have become one voice with the Resistance. At least in India, I witness this. I was giving a speech in a village in India where only 10 percent of the residents are Shia. But 2,000 people participated in that speech, 99 percent of whom were Sunni, and they chanted 'Labbaik Ya Khamenei.'"
This Indian thinker emphasized that today we have an opportunity that we lacked in the past. Today we must work more than before. We must have magnanimity. We must go to each other's mosques and homes and strengthen this connection. What the martyred leader wanted and pursued was the formation of a "united Ummah," one of whose requirements is magnanimity.
In continuation of his remarks, he referred to the Gaza issue and said: "The Gaza issue was very important, and the blood of Gaza's martyrs had a great impact. We have a hadith from the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) that says: 'God made the oppressors a means for strengthening religion.' This means that the oppressors imagine that if they commit oppression, they become stronger. But in reality, the oppression they commit makes people more religious, just as Imam Khomeini (RA) said: 'Kill us, and our nation will become more awakened.' Whenever they committed a massacre in Gaza, the question arose for the people of the world: why does no one rise to help these people? Only Iran went to help Gaza."
He added: "The Gaza issue caused the masks to fall off the faces of the oppressors. Sunnis themselves tell us that we have two fronts: Hussaini and Yazidi. Today the talk is not Shia or Sunni. Those who are with Gaza are Hussaini, and those who are not with Gaza are Yazidi."
The Indian media activist stated: "When the leader was martyred, Sunni people in India poured into the streets weeping, while we never expected such a scene. Today there is a neighborhood in India where the shopkeepers are all Sunni, but they have placed the martyred leader's picture in their shops and say he is our leader too. This is the effect of the martyr's blood."
In conclusion, referring to the martyrdom of the children of Minab, he said: "No one in India from any sect could defend this event, and everyone criticized America for why it committed this crime. God created our enemies foolish, and this too was a foolish act, that they committed this crime on the first day of the war. And this too was God's will, that the blood of these innocent children become the criterion for distinguishing the oppressor from the oppressed in the world."
