Dr. "Balasim Aziz Shabib al-Zamili al-Mousawi," the head of the Postgraduate Studies Committee at the University of Kufa, in an interview with the Taghrib News Agency (TNA), on the occasion of the birth of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), while elaborating on the views of Imam Khamenei, the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, regarding Islamic unity, emphasized that he considered Islam from the perspective of "authentic and Muhammadan Islam" and took into account the concerns of the entire Islamic Ummah.
Ayatollah Khamenei considered the unity of the Islamic Ummah a fundamental issue
At the beginning of this interview, he congratulated the Islamic Ummah on the birth of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and stated: "The Islamic Ummah shares many commonalities in principles and generalities; the qibla, the Quran, the Lord, and the one Prophet are among the most important of these commonalities."
Al-Zamili added: "Imam Khamenei examined this issue seriously and realistically, and tried to make what the Quran, the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and Islam want as the basis for the movement of Muslims."
He stated: "Instead of focusing on differences and the dispersion of Muslims, Imam Khamenei emphasized 'Islamic thought' and called Muslims to unity, solidarity, and cohesion, because the Islamic Ummah will be powerful with unity and solidarity, but in case of division, the enemies will dominate it."
Division is the weak point of the Islamic Ummah
The head of the Postgraduate Studies Committee at the University of Kufa, referring to Imam Khamenei's recognition of the enemies' strategy, said: "He always paid attention to the fact that the enemies of Islam, including the Zionist regime and other currents opposed to Islam, seek to identify the weak points of the Islamic Ummah."
He continued: "The weak point of the Islamic Ummah is division, and its strong point is unity. For this reason, Imam Khamenei always called Muslims to unity and forbade division."
The policy of "divide and rule"; a long-standing strategy of colonialism
Al-Zamili, in response to a question about how to confront the current challenges of the Islamic world and the policies of global arrogance, said: "Global arrogance and colonialism have pursued the policy of 'divide and rule' since World War I and even before."
He added: "The goal of this policy has been to create differences among denominations, individuals, and even religious authorities. Imam Khamenei, by recognizing this colonial strategy, tried to confront it with a Quranic approach, because the Quran, the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and even reason emphasize unity and solidarity."
This university professor emphasized: "Unity and solidarity lead to success, and division results only in defeat. If the Islamic Ummah is united, the enemies cannot infiltrate it at any time or place, and many of the defeats that the Islamic Ummah has suffered have been rooted in division."
The role of Imam Khamenei's leadership model among the youth
Al-Zamili, regarding the role of Imam Khamenei in strengthening Islamic identity and the sense of belonging of youth to the Islamic Ummah, also said: "His presence, speeches, stances, and actions have been influential among the youth, because his words and actions are consistent with each other, and this is very important for young people."
He added: "A person, whether young or old, when they see a leader and speaker as truthful, will trust and follow him."
This university professor continued: "Imam Khamenei considered himself duty-bound to serve the Islamic Ummah, and on this path, he made the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the Pure Imams (AS) his models. This very fact made him popular and acceptable among various segments of society, including the youth."
The formation of a multipolar system and a new opportunity for the Islamic world
The head of the Postgraduate Studies Committee at the University of Kufa, in response to a question about the change in the balance of power in the world and the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the formation of a new global order, stated: "Before the recent war against Iran, many thinkers and even Islamic scholars believed that the world was under the leadership of a single pole, namely America, and the Zionist regime also followed it."
He added: "After the war and witnessing Iran's steadfastness and the results of its firm stances and will, even in the West, the view is strengthening that the world is moving towards a multipolar system."
Al-Zamili stated: "If the West has not yet reached this interpretation, this change in the balance will be imposed on it in the future, and the world will move towards the formation of multiple poles."
He said: "In such circumstances, the Islamic pole and the Islamic Republic of Iran can be one of the powerful and influential poles in the political and economic system of the world."
The Islamic Republic of Iran has emphasized Islamic unity for years
This university professor, referring to the approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran towards Islamic unity, stated: "The Islamic Republic of Iran has had Islamic unity on its agenda for years, and now the responsibility lies with the Islamic Ummah."
He added: "Islamic nations and governments must, by using the positions and actions of countries as a criterion, determine who stands with Islam and who stands against it."
Al-Zamili, referring to the relations of some regional countries with colonial powers, said: "Colonialism promised support to some countries, took financial resources from them, and dominated their lands. But today, the situation has changed to the extent that some of these countries are practically paying the costs of supporting those very powers."
He emphasized: "When Islamic nations and governments realize this reality, they must adopt a different approach and policy, and that is unity and solidarity, because Muslims, even if they differ in denomination, are brothers to one another."
Universities must strengthen the culture of coexistence and unity
Al-Zamili, in response to a question about the educational role of educational institutions in shaping a shared Islamic identity, said: "The educational role and practical duty of the university professor and student is to move in the direction of coexistence, social peace, unity, and avoiding division and violence."
He added: "The university environment is different from the mosque environment. In the university, individuals and students from different denominations and communities are present, and this diversity can have an important impact on strengthening the unity of the Ummah and the cohesion of society."
This university professor emphasized: "The existence of religious and denominational diversity in university environments, if managed properly, can lead to the strengthening of social solidarity and peaceful coexistence among followers of different religions and denominations."
