LONDON/TEHRAN — A prominent Lebanese political analyst has lauded the transformative leadership of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, noting his unparalleled role in bolstering solidarity and advancing the cause of unity across the Muslim world.
In an exclusive interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA), Dr. Ahmad El-Zein, President of the Lebanese Cultural Association in the United Kingdom, highlighted how the martyred Leader’s vision transcended theoretical discourse to create a practical, institutional framework for Islamic cohesion.
Dr. El-Zein emphasized that Ayatollah Khamenei’s contributions were uniquely holistic, spanning religious, cultural, intellectual, and institutional dimensions.
“Throughout his leadership, Ayatollah Khamenei made significant strides to advance the cause of unity within the Muslim Ummah,” Dr. El-Zein stated, noting that these efforts were characterized by actionable initiatives designed to foster genuine dialogue and cooperation rather than mere academic debate.
He pointed to the establishment of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought as a monumental achievement. According to Dr. El-Zein, this initiative breathed new life into the historic mission of Dar al-Taqrib in Cairo, providing a vital platform for profound scholarly and cultural exchange between Sunni and Shia communities.
He further noted that the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization served to fortify these international communication channels, weaving a tighter fabric of engagement across the Muslim world.
A key pillar of the martyred Leader’s legacy, Dr. El-Zein observed, was his decisive stance against sectarianism. He specifically cited the historic 2010 religious decree issued by Ayatollah Khamenei, which prohibited insults or disrespect toward the wives and companions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
“This decree reflected a sincere and profound commitment to reducing sectarian tensions and reinforcing mutual respect,” El-Zein remarked. “The Leader consistently warned that any attempt to divide Muslims along sectarian lines is a direct assault on the interests of Islam and the Ummah.”
Dr. El-Zein noted that through his annual Hajj messages and public addresses, the martyred Leader repeatedly reminded the faithful of their shared foundations: faith in Allah, the Holy Qur’an, and the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH). “These commonalities were never just ideas; they were the call to action for unity and cooperation,” he added.
Beyond theology, Dr. El-Zein highlighted how Ayatollah Khamenei strategically linked Islamic unity to the urgent political and humanitarian needs of the region. By connecting the concept of Wahdah (unity) to the Palestinian cause, regional cooperation, and good neighborly relations, the martyred Leader turned unity into a prerequisite for security and prosperity.
“This approach helped build trust and mutual respect among nations, contributing significantly to regional efforts aimed at enhancing stability and peace,” El-Zein explained.
In conclusion, Dr. Ahmad El-Zein asserted that the promotion of Islamic unity remains one of the most profound and enduring dimensions of Ayatollah Khamenei’s leadership. He noted that the intellectual and institutional foundations laid by the martyred Leader continue to serve as a vital roadmap for dialogue and coexistence, remaining more relevant than ever in the ongoing struggle to strengthen the solidarity of the Islamic world.
