Sheikh Ahmad al-Qattan, speaking to Taqrib News Agency (TNA), referred to the recent regional developments and the attacks on Iran describing the U.S.-Israeli campaign against the Islamic Republic as “atrocious and illegal”.
He stressed that the sole purpose of these attacks is to undermine the nation that stands at the forefront of supporting the resistance.
He emphasized that Iran’s response to these aggressions has served as an effective deterrent, preventing the enemy from achieving its strategic objectives.
Al-Qattan added that despite intense pressure, Iran has successfully maintained control over the strategic waterways like the Strait of Hormuz, managed its domestic affairs effectively, and preserved the strength of its political and social structures.
The Sunni scholar condemned the attacks on Iran’s infrastructure and civilian targets as war crimes. “Assassinations and pressure will not cause the system to collapse,” he stated. “On the contrary, the stability of Iran is a testament to its resilience and the trust of its people.”
Describing Iran’s retaliatory operations that targeted the U.S. military bases and Israeli positions in the occupied lands as a clear exercise of “legitimate self-defense,” he called upon Islamic nations to adopt a unified stance in condemning the aggression.
“Iran is neither an enemy to the Arabs nor does it intend to attack its neighbors,” al-Qattan noted. “Its targets are American and Zionist interests.”
Al Qattan criticized certain Arab governments for blaming Iran instead of condemning the true aggressors, attributing this behavior to their weakness in the face of Western pressure.
He called for greater solidarity across the Islamic world in defense of oppressed nations, suggesting that holding a conference at the level of Islamic countries could be an effective step in countering the recurring acts of aggression by Israel and the United States.
Concluding his remarks, the head of the “Qawluna wal-Amal” Movement urged international organizations to hold the leaders of the Israeli regime and their American supporters accountable for war crimes committed in Iran, Lebanon, and Palestine.
