EU’s action against IRGC is attack on national identity
Emphasizing that the EU lacks the legal authority to make such a designation, he argued that the move was driven by U.S. policy and noted that the IRGC has, in fact, been a primary force protecting Europe from the threat of ISIS.

Mahmoudi stated that the EU’s action represents a blatant miscalculation on both political and legal fronts.
From a legal standpoint, he argued, the EU has no jurisdiction to pass judgment on the official institutions of sovereign states—especially while remaining silent in the face of the Israeli regime’s documented crimes and the killing of children in occupied Palestine.
He added that Europe’s silence regarding the severe human rights violations in Gaza undermines any moral or legal credibility it claims to possess when commenting on the military institutions of other nations. The IRGC as Europe’s defensive barrier against ISIS
Mahmoudi highlighted the IRGC’s central role in combating regional terrorism. He stated firmly that had the IRGC not stood against ISIS—an organization that, according to the EU’s own reports, was shaped by U.S. policies—the entire European continent would have faced widespread massacres, destruction, and brutal terrorism.
He stressed that the IRGC has not only safeguarded Iran’s borders but has also played a decisive role in maintaining global security and preventing the spread of terrorism into Europe.
Mahmoudi added that the EU appears to be fully under the influence of the United States, which he described metaphorically as the “Nimrod and Pharaoh of our time.” According to him, Washington manipulates the EU like a puppet, and the union’s decisions merely reflect U.S. hostility. An attack on national identity and the endurance of truth
Mahmoudi argued that the EU’s decision is not simply a military or security measure but a direct attack on the national identity and sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Citing the IRGC’s deep popular support, he asserted that such decisions are ultimately ineffective and destined to fail.
He concluded by emphasizing the spiritual and symbolic significance of the IRGC among the Iranian people. The IRGC, he said, stands as a beacon of national independence and a standard‑bearer of the Islamic community. Its strong public support reflects the nation’s understanding of its vital role in defending the Revolution, faith, and territorial integrity.
