The former representative of West Azerbaijan province in Iran’s Assembly of Experts has hailed Iran’s counter-terrorism commander, Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and the lasting legacy of security the martyred hero left for Iran.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Javad Mojtahed Shabestari, has praised the martyred Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, calling him a “beloved and recognized figure” who rendered the highest service to the nation, the Islamic system, the deprived, Muslims, and the Resistance Front, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Shabestari said Soleimani’s popularity stemmed from his extensive military contributions and his devotion to the country and leadership.
 
He noted that Iranian media have worked to present Soleimani’s true character, but emphasized that more efforts are needed in the arts to showcase his sacrifice, sincerity, and commitment to Islam and the nation.
 
Highlighting Soleimani’s role in establishing security, Shabestari stressed that the commander fought against Daesh, which he described as “a dangerous terrorist group nurtured by America.”
 
He argued that Soleimani’s decisive actions prevented extremists from undermining Islam and left behind a lasting legacy of security for Iran.
 
The senior commander of IRGC Quds Force, together with top Iraqi commander, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and their companions were martyred in a US strike near Baghdad Airport in early January 2020.
