Lebanese Islamic Leader: No Words Can Describe the Atrocities in Gaza

Speaking to Taghrib News Agency(TNA) on the sidelines of the 39th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran, Sheikh Juaid emphasized that the 1500th anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birth comes amid unprecedented global challenges—not only for the Islamic Ummah, but for humanity as a whole.
Lebanese Islamic Leader: No Words Can Describe the Atrocities in Gaza
He condemned what he described as American imperialism and arrogance, likening President Donald Trump’s behavior to that of Pharaoh, and asserting that divine justice demands the downfall of all tyrants. He said: “We are entering the third year of genocide in Gaza. The scale of killing, displacement, starvation, and destruction is beyond imagination. No language can capture the horror.”
Sheikh Juaid lamented the deep sleep of the Muslim world in the face of live-streamed atrocities, and cited a prophetic tradition warning that Muslims would become like foam on a flood—numerous but powerless.
He stressed that while Muslims number nearly two billion globally, only a small segment—those aligned with the resistance axis in Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen—are actively defending Islam. He expressed regret that Syria had shifted away from this axis, and reiterated that Iran remains its strategic core.
“We are not just fighting America and the West. We are confronting all the forces of evil.”
He criticized the international system for shielding Israel, accusing the United Nations and human rights organizations of hypocrisy, and described Israel as the West’s favored project, armed and supported by global powers.
Sheikh Juaid recalled Israel’s past attacks on Lebanon and its recent 12-day war against Iran, which he said was based on false pretexts—similar to the invasion of Iraq under the guise of chemical weapons. He praised Iran’s leadership and its religious decree banning nuclear weapons, calling it a nation of integrity misunderstood by the West.
He also condemned the silence and complicity of some Arab and Islamic governments in the Gaza blockade, noting that Gaza borders a major Arab country that has sealed its frontier. He lamented the erosion of solidarity and honor among Arab nations.
“This is no longer a matter of religion or sect. It is a human issue. The question is: Are we on the side of humanity or against it?”
Sheikh Juaid praised international activists who risk their lives to break the siege of Gaza, contrasting their courage with the inaction of many Muslim leaders and scholars. He invoked Imam Ali’s teaching that people are either your brothers in faith or your equals in humanity.
He warned that Lebanon faces intense pressure from the U.S. and Arab regimes to dismantle its resistance, and criticized efforts to disarm the movement that defends all Lebanese communities—Sunni, Shia, Christian, and others.
Referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s “Greater Israel” map, he expressed concern over Zionist ambitions extending into Saudi Arabia and other Arab states, and cited reports of financial claims related to historical Jewish presence in the Arabian Peninsula.
He questioned whether Jordan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia would be spared from these ambitions, and condemned the UAE’s denunciation of a recent resistance operation in Jerusalem that targeted Israeli forces.
“Resistance is not just a religious or Islamic duty. It is a defense of humanity, of truth, and of the oppressed across the globe.”
