Italian Activist in the Sumud Flotilla: Now It’s Palestine’s Turn to Be Free

14 Sep 2025 - 17:33

Claudio explained that he sailed from Sicily to Tunisia aboard a sailboat to join the global mission.

He noted that around 40 boats had departed from Catania and Syracuse toward Tunis as part of the flotilla.
“I work with the International Solidarity Movement,” he said. “I’ve been to Palestine many times, most recently in May.”
Regarding the possibility of an attack by the Zionist regime on the flotilla, Claudio stated: “We are prepared for anything. I’ve been imprisoned before. Now I’m retired, and I have no problem with whatever may happen.” He added, “The worst that could happen is that we become like the Palestinians.”
Claudio emphasized that his participation stems from a belief in justice: “If Palestine cannot win and be saved, everything will be lost.”
Commenting on recent aggression against Iran, he said: “Netanyahu always needs someone to bomb. If he doesn’t bomb, he’s dissatisfied. Attacking Iran has always been one of his primary intentions. He must keep the wars going.”
More than 500 pro-Palestinian activists from 44 countries have gathered in Tunisia to participate in specialized training sessions ahead of the flotilla’s departure. The convoy aims to sail toward the waters of occupied Palestine and Gaza to challenge the ongoing blockade.
The Sumud Flotilla’s organizing committee has reported that the lead vessel, named Family, and another boat, Mawa, were targeted in a drone attack.
