“Ramadan, a manifest of Islamic unity”, cleric

A senior Iranian Sunni cleric has called on Shia and Sunni Muslims to observe the fasting month of Ramadan calling the time a manifestation of solidarity and convergence among Muslims.

Mamusta Mostafa Mahmoudi, prayer leader of the Sunni community in Iran’s West Azerbaijan province in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) hailed the fasting month of Ramadan the month of munificence and caring for those in need.
 
He said,” There are numerous aspects for the fasting month of Ramadan that contribute to advancement of man and solidarity in the Islamic nation.”
 
Top cleric alluded to verses of holy Qur’an on piety and said,” All religious decrees are means to materialize Islamic unity.”
 
He called on the Shia and Sunni and all Islamic denominations to note that holy Qur’an has set the month of Ramadan for all Muslims to fast and practice I’tikaf (staying in a mosque and devoting oneself to prayers for a period of time).
