Muslim clerics stressed hostility of Takfiri thoughts with Qur’an

Several Iranian Shia and Sunni scholars slammed utilitarian view of Takfiri groups from Qur’an to confront the holy book of Islam calling all Muslims to maintain vigilance against the issue.

Attending the second day of conference on repercussions of Takfir (excommunication) and responsibility of Muslim scolars in the Iranian Province of Golestan, a group of Islamic figures warned against Takfiri groups’ misuse of holy Qur’an, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Hujjat-ul-Islam Ali Deylam, head of cultural bureau of Scholars’ Affairs in northern Iran said,” What we know as Takfir today is a creation of enemies whose objective is annihilation of Islam with the means of dividing Islamic denominations.”
 
He stressed necessity of unity and vigilance for clerics in all Islamic regions and said,” Fatwa by the Supreme Leader to stress avoiding desecration of Sunni sanctities is an absolute example of wisdom and vigilance by a cleric.”
 
He referred to historical examples from Wahhabi references and added,” This movement rejects great Sunni figures like Abu Hanifa under the pretext of apostasy.”
 
Akhoond Yaghoubi, Friday prayer leader of Ghareh Tappeh in Behshar County, northern Iran said,” Takfiri groups recite holy Qur’an and challenge us based on the holy book of Islam; hence, we should react to them based on Qur’an either.”
 
Hujjat-ul-Islam Zamani, deputy of international affairs at seminaries bureau in his remarks referred to Takfiri thoughts saying,” Takfiri groups have sparked a war against Qur’an based on the holy book itself.”
