Enemies are after tarnishing peaceful image of Islam: Sunni cleric

One of Friday Prayer Leaders of Sanandaj, Mamousta Jamal Jafari in an exclusive interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) beckoned to recent desecration by the French magazine for the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and underscored, “these measures are in line with plots hatched by enemies and compensate such misdeeds in tarnishing the divine religion of Islam.”

Religious cleric beckoned to western policies in supporting Takfiri terrorist and underscored, “tyrants formed these terroristic groups and in the here and now under the pretext of standing against them perpetrate such brazen measures.”

In his line, some western countries are after increasing dispersion and division among Muslims so as to advance their malignant aims and objectives; “Given that, Muslims should be vigilant, not letting their enemies interfere in their inside affairs.”

The Sunni cleric stressed the telling role of religious clerics in preventing Muslims from plunging headlong into violence, urging them to inform Muslims so as to refrain from making any impetuous decision.

In step with Mamousta Jamal Jafari, religious clerics decried the publication of the sacrilegious cartoon of the Prophet Mohammad in the satirical French weekly and announced the reason behind such profane moves is that Islam is growing and making its presence felt in the West.

To them, such moves would only serve extremists and Takfiri groups who are in search of excuses for killing and terrorism.

Muslims in different countries have protested at the printing of satirical sketches of the Prophet Mohammad by French magazine, Charlie Hebdo. The French weekly has repeatedly provoked Muslim anger by publishing such offensive cartoons.

Some five million copies of the new edition of the satirical magazine were sold this week in the wake of a January 7 attack on Charlie Hebdo office in Paris, in which 12 people were killed.
