Convergence, main strategy for modern Islamic civilization

Dr. Ali Akbar Velayati, top political advisor to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, delivering a speech at the closing meeting of 31st Islamic Unity Conference elaborated on the achievements and challenges of the Muslim world and necessary grounds for setting up modern Islamic civilization.

He said," Today the Muslim world has turned into the land of different crises due to policies of the domineering countries and arrogant powers."
 
He referred to Islamic proximity as one of the key component of Islamic civilization which necessitates unity of all Muslims against sworn enemies of Islam and arrogant powers.
 
"Predicaments which have created recent critical situation in the world of Islam are due to 'disregarding what are necessary,’ treachery' of the powers and also the role played by outside players, the US and Zionist regime of Israel", he said.
 
Secretary General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening, counted destabilization plots, sectarian tensions and proxy wars waged in the world of Islam and western Asian region in the recent years as the dark issues whose origins should be sought in arrogant policies of the US and its regional allies who are mainly in pursuit of guaranteeing the security of the Zionist regime and securing arms deal for themselves.
 
He noted," To underlining commonalities and respecting unifying elements and also avoiding dividing issues play a certain role in building unity in Islamic communities."
 
Ali Akbar Velayati hailed Islam as the most comprehensive religion for happiness of man and pursuit of Qur'an and Ahlul Bayt (AS) as the best model for life.
 
He urged Muslims to maintain vigilance and follow Qur'anic teachings and lifestyle of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) to save Islamic nation from distraction saying," To achieve the objective, Muslims should maintain solidarity amongst themselves and provide the ground for building modern Islamic civilization based on Qur'anic teachings and lifestyle of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)."
 
"Modern Islamic civilization" as defined by advisor of the Supreme Leader, "is synonymous with revival of the Islamic civilization which was at its culmination in 10th century, dubbed as "Islamic Renaissance".
 
He referred to history and flourishing of the Islamic civilization and said," Formation of the Islamic civilization with Islam as its axis happened in Hijaz Peninsula with different nations playing a role in its promotion; hence, it has grown with Arabic language, Iranian thought, Indian imagery, Turkish arm but an Islamic and humane heart."
 
He stressed that revival of Islamic civilization requires endeavors of all Islamic nations and all should play an active role to achieve this objective and added," What provided the promotion of Islamic civilization has indeed been attention to all temporal and spiritual needs of man."
 
In another part of his speech, Mr. Velayati said," Modern Islamic civilization translates to a civilization which fulfills all natural, temporal and spiritual necessities of human beings."
 
Former Iranian foreign minister noted," Islamic civilization, during its golden ages made great contributions to global community" and added," When the Middle Age Europe was prosecuting and jailing its scientists and intellectuals, Muslim thinkers took giant steps to develop knowledge rendering the whole humanity with major services."
 
Iranian thinker also referred to mission of seminaries to fulfill the demands of a new generation and educating pious experts.
 
According to Ali Akbar Velayati, modern Islamic civilization is a God-oriented, religious-centered and just civilization with convergence as one of its major strategy.
 
He expressed regret that Islamic civilization has been subject to a gradual recession and highlighted victory of Islamic Revolution as an event that, once again, prospered the civilization after centuries and is in pursuit of a new move of awakening in the third millennium.
 
"Wisdom, spirituality, morality, monotheism, mujahidah (struggle in path of God), avoiding fanaticism, providing welfare, maintaining justice and endeavor are the basis for modern Islamic civilization" he said adding," Modern Islamic civilization include all features of a sacred civilization, built upon true Islam brought by Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)."
 
Mr. Velayati stressed," To build self-confidence, pragmatism, making use of scientific and practical experiences of Islamic golden ages and also successful achievements of the western countries in the field of science and technology are different ways for materialization of modern Islamic civilization" and noted that to revive Islamic civilization without deriving the necessary plans from Qur'an, tradition and teachings of Ahlul Bayt (AS) is impossible.
 
He referred to challenges ahead of modern Islamic civilization and said," Aggressive culture of the arrogant powers, spreading division among Muslims, war mongering of Takfiri terrorists, materialistic views and also American and Zionist machinations are the issues which challenge realization of modern Islamic civilization."
 
Iranian thinker hailed the endeavors by the late founder of Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (RA) and the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei in line with revival of Islamic civilization and boosting unity and fraternity among Muslims which is on the verge of full success despite problems created by international powers.
 
Ali Akbar Velayati also counted lack of unified leadership, dispersion of Muslims, creation of fake Islamic movements such as Al Qaeda, Daesh, Al Nusra and Daesh, creating American-style Islam in contrast to true Islam as other challenges ahead of modern Islamic civilization.
 
Prominent Iranian scholar concluded that," In fact there is no entity called Daesh and the world of Islam in defeating the terrorist group, has in fact passed one of the bloodiest and unparalleled joint intrigues by the US and Zionist regime aimed at marginalization of Palestine and safeguarding the Zionist regime of Israel."
 
He referred to the recent move made by US President to designate Jerusalem as the Israeli capital and said," US should realize that this decision will become the final blow to its political life in the world of Islam and western Asia and it will not last long that the US will regret the move because the decision will fuel the rage of more than1.5 billion Muslims."
