Prominent Sunni cleric of Golestan province, Akhound Davoud Belkafeh in an exclusive interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) on the occasion of Al-Quds day rally, which falls on the last Friday of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, stressed, "reviving Islamic values and fostering such religious identity related issues as Al-Quds day rally is of prime importance and should be placed high on agenda."

The religious cleric hailed the late founder of Islamic revolution, Imam Khomeini's attempt in designating the name of Al-Quds and drawing Muslims' attention to deplorable status of the down-trodden Palestinians.

Akhound Belkafeh went on to stress, "Al-Quds Day rally is day of battling global arrogance," hailing
people's movements against Zionism regime.

The Sunni thinker placed stress on the necessity of attending Al- Quds day rallies to communicate to the world the deplorable status of the down-trodden Palestinians and press the Israeli regime to respect Palestinian rights.

Akhound Davoud Belkafeh underscored that Al-Quds day rally, in which Millions of people across Iran and other world countries partook and condemned Israel’s decades-long occupation and atrocities, shows Islamic Ummah never withstand the oppression.

In Tehran and other cities and towns, people from all walks of life gathered for the annual event which usually marks people chanting slogans against Israel and burning the occupying regime's flags.

During the rallies in the capital, Iran also put on display three surface-to-surface ballistic missiles, including the Zolfaghar, the type that Iran used this week to destroy Daesh positions in Syria.
