Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, in a meeting on Islamic endowment and alms held on the sideline of the 31st Islamic Unity Conference proposed launching a joint endowment fund for Islamic countries in order to meet the livelihood and cultural need of Muslim world, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He said," If a joint fund is set up the fruit will benefit the whole Muslim community."
 
The cleric hailed Iran's Organization of Endowments and Alms for its well organized functioning, saying it could be set as a role model for all Islamic countries.
 
Hujjat-ul-Islam Ali Mohammadi, director of the Organization of Endowments, talked about capabilities of the organization in providing authentic data on endowments and holy shrines across the country.
 
Participants to the meeting from Mauritania, Iraq, Lebanon, Nigeria and Bangladesh called for cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Iran in line with systematic management of the endowments.
 
The meeting was held on the sideline of the 31st Islamic Unity Conference held on 5-7 December 2017.
 
The conference is attended by more than 500 international Muslim elites to discuss the theme of "Unity and Requirements of Modern Islamic Civilization" in the three-day event.
