Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, prominent Iranian jurisprudent met with Cardinal Peter Turkson, president of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace expressing satisfaction over boosting ties between Qom Seminary and the Vatican extending hopes that the meetings are in line with settling the issues of the world by religious leaders, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He counted wars, disagreements, moral corruption and also economic and political issues as the most prominent issues of the world which can be solved through interfaith cooperations.
 
The cleric referred to a previous demand of the Pope from different religions to announce their stance in regards to Takfiri (excommunication) groups to which the jurisprudent announced the denunciation of the terrorist group and readiness to cooperate with counter-Takfir campaigns.
 
Ayatollah Makarem referred to apostasy, distancing from religious thoughts and denial of God Almighty as the most important issues of the modern world since it grants people with illegal freedom to commit any crime.
 
“Takfiri groups are the second issue for the world because they have brought the insecurity to the world fueling the fire which has spread to the world.” said the cleric and stressed necessity of different religions to join against the plague.
Top cleric highlighted the power of religious teachings to prevent expansion of moral corruption.
 
Ayatollah Makarem expressed hopes for more visits by the Christian leader and extended his regards for the Pope.
